Specs are old school too, 1.3 liter engine, 95hp or 109hp, CVT.
The car is obviously aimed at the utilitarian market.

I love it! Yet another Toyota that needs to be sold over here!
It would make a great Scion or even a new low-cost Toyota model.

Yep, great car for old folks or broke ass individuals.

This could make sense for a lot of people - basic, reliable, but a CVT? Every rental I've driven that had one was compromised.

These are also AWD if I recall correctly?

I think AWD is too heavy and expensive for such a basic car.

This is not exactly a sports car either, and since it will be used by people who need to carry stuff or by broke people, sportiness is not a key factor of purchase, in this case.

True, but I'm guessing the base version is offered with a 5/6 speed? And will we ever get it here?

German Wikipedia says its AWD by default. The Probox is some kind of multi-purpose commerical station wagon like one of those early 4WD Subarus, so I guess it makes sense to offer it with AWD.

No, the CVT replaced both the 5 speed manual and the 4 speed auto. And no, we won't get it here, because Toyota's US marketing has no idea what they're doing, they only know one thing: SELL MOAR CAMRYS!!!
